An Incredible Lens Goes Further, to 8K. Now with a High Contrast Optical Block
The JVC DLA-NZ9 is equipped with a high resolution 18 element, 16 group all glass lens with full aluminum lens barrel. To deliver high resolution to every corner of the screen and ensuring a wide shift range of +/-80% vertical, +/-34% horizontal, a 65mm diameter lens has been selected. Five special low dispersion lens accommodate the different refractive index of Red, Green and Blue to suppress chromatic aberration, color bleeding etc., faithfully reproducing 8K resolution.
Projection optics is more than just the lens. The new High Contrast Optical Block compliments JVC’s D-ILA technology and our legendary commitment to the best contrast, black level and brightness.
Ultra-High Contrast Optics with 4K D-ILA device
High-resolution image projection is reliant on the device and the optical system. The refined 0.69-inch 4K D-ILA device has doubled the speed required, to display images from 120 Hz to 240 Hz-equivalent.
The new Ultra-High Contrast Optics featured on the DLA?NZ9 contribute to achieve optical brightness as high as 3,000 lumens, and the new optics has dramatically improved the image quality by thoroughly suppressing the return of unnecessary light to the projection screen.
Unparalleled black level achieved through high contrast ratio and high luminance
The 0.69-inch 4K D-ILA device and the optical engine employing a wire grid alone realize a native contrast of 100,000:1 on the DLA-NZ9. But on top of that, in combination with the dynamic light source control that automatically controls the output of the laser light source by analyzing the input video source, an astonishing dynamic contrast of ∞ (infinity) :1 has been achieved not only for the high-end model but for all models equipped with the BLU-Escent light source.
The synergistic effect of the ultimate dynamic range created by the high luminance will allow you to experience impressive, high-quality 8K images full of reality.
New algorithm on the laser dynamic control
Laser Dynamic Dimming control was previously based on the average luminance of the entire scene. With the new mode, adjustment is based on peak luminance. This results in images with increased dynamic range. In particular, the new mode improves reproduction of content such as stars twinkling in pitch blackness and nightscapes. In addition, even images with low peak luminance can be enjoyed with a greater sense of contrast.
Vivid color images achieved with DCI-P3-equivalent wide color gamut
The use of a laser light source and cinema filters enables a wide color gamut equivalent to DCI-P3, not to mention BT.709. HDR content, as typified by UHD Blu-rays, uses a much wider color gamut than ever. When such content is projected on the DLA-NZ9 or the NZ8 with a wide color gamut, it is possible to richly reproduce colors that were difficult to reproduce until now, such as the gradations of the sky and ocean, the contrast of red roses or a row of fresh green trees.
Frame Adapt HDR Theater Optimizer Generation 2
The DLA-NZ9 is compatible with HDR10 content such as UHD Blu-ray and streaming. Color grading of HDR content can vary dramatically. Frame Adapt HDR dynamically tone maps all HDR10 content for optimized brightness, color and detail on a frame by frame or scene by scene basis. With Theater Optimizer, JVC has created the world’s first projector that automatically fine tunes HDR based on installation characteristics, and projector settings.
JVC is proud to add HDR10+ support, which offers dynamic tone mapping for 4K HDR Blu-ray & streaming content that is true to the director’s intent.
HDR10+ Support allows a choice for two dynamic
tone mappings
When it comes to reproducing the rich video information of HDR content including the extended brightness range, BT.2020 wide colour gamut and 10-bit gradation, rely on one of the new D-ILA projectors. New models support all HDR formats including HDR10 for Blu-ray and streaming, HLG for broadcasting, and the latest HDR10+ signal format with dynamic metadata compatibility.
JVC projectors are compatible with the two dynamic tone mappings of HDR10+ and Frame Adapt HDR. HDR10+ contains the metadata of the producer's intentions for each scene, Frame Adapt HDR instantly analyses the peak brightness in HDR10 content using an original algorithm. Ensuring you can watch any HDR content in optimal picture quality.
FILMMAKER MODE™ that faithfully recreates the creator’s intentions
FILMMAKER MODE™ was developed by the UHD Alliance, an organization of Hollywood movie studios, TV studios, content distributors, consumer electronics manufacturers, and device developers, with the aim of faithfully reproducing the filmmakers' intentions in the home.
When using this mode, picture quality adjustment functions such as frame interpolation and noise reduction are turned off, and the color temperature is set to D65 (6500K), allowing users to enjoy movies and documentaries with picture quality that is faithful to the original master.
8K In… Dual 48Gbps HDMI w/ HDCP 2.3 Inputs
JVC is proud to introduce the world’s first home theater projectors with 8K/60P inputs. This latest connectivity standard offers dual 48Gbps HDMI inputs with HDCP 2.3. In addition, 4K/120P input is supported for the newest generation video content, including the latest gaming platforms.
8K e-shift technology to achieve 8K resolution
New 8K e-shiftX delivers pixel perfect 8K resolution with over 35 million individually addressable pixels. JVC achieves this with proprietary technology that uses a 240hz driver along with 4-way, multi-axis shift to flash the screen four times to create each full frame of 8K video for true 8K in, 8K out.
The result is an 8K resolution, enhancing the sense of three-dimensionality and immersion.
4K120p input ideal for Low Latency Mode
Because these projectors are equipped with 4K120p input, signal latency is infinitesimal, making it effective when displaying high frame-rate gaming content on large screens. What’s more, Low Latency Mode reduces delay in displaying PC signals and games, and improves response to the users’ rapid operations.
Essential all-glass lens to depict all the data in the 8K/4K images
Equipped with an 17-element, 15-group all-glass lens featuring a full aluminum lens barrel. To project high resolution 8K images to every corner of the screen.
3000 Lumen BLU-Escent Laser
New 3rd generation “BLU-Escent” Laser Phosphor light engine uses blue laser diodes, an inorganic yellow phosphor and JVC’s proprietary color management system. “BLU-Escent” enables 3000 lumen light output and 20,000 hour long life illumination.
This new design is more compact, with higher output, greater efficiency and quieter operation, making it the best solution for demanding home theater installations. Increased brightness ensures compatibility with larger screen sizes, and improved HDR performance. This brings greater depth, added dimensionality, and infinite dynamic contrast to home theater screens
Light source control by Gauge
Laser light source adjustment function that can be finely adjusted according to the environment and preference. After the update from the previous 3 steps, fine adjustment of 0 -100 steps is possible, and adjustment based on the brightness on the screen and flexible setting according to the use environment are possible
USB Back-up
USB backup function that can save and write all settings at once.
This function saves the settings on the main unit menu to a commercially available USB flash drive. Professional adjustments can be saved or backed up in advance to undo unintended adjustments by children or family members.
Lens Shift function
Flexible installation is made possible thanks to the wide lens-shift function. As described in the diagram, wide shift ranges are offered vertically and horizontally to help deliver natural projected images without distortion.
