Smooth, film-like images with JVC's D-ILA imaging technology
D-ILA, which stands for Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier, is a proprietary form of Liquid Crystal on Silicon. D-ILA projectors are characterised by natural pixel-free film-like images with smooth grey scales and rich, highly accurate colours. D-ILA reflective chips have a smooth, scatter-free display surface with an extremely high aperture ratio. D-ILA chips have no spatial dithering that causes noise in the low black levels. The grey levels are smooth and continuous and replicate the signal levels accurately. Pixels are tightly spaced and liquid crystal blending gives a film-like image that no other technology can replicate.
1300 ANSI Lumens for brighter, bigger image
Nearly 50% brighter than our previous models, the DLA-RS50 outputs 1300 ANSI lumens thanks to a new 225W short-arc UHP lamp. With the additional brightness, it is now practical to use larger projection screens - up to 14 feet - and still achieve theatrical levels of screen illumination. A 16-step aperture is provided to obtain the ideal brightness and contrast levels for specific viewing environments
3D Enabled for the Ultimate Home Viewing Experience
JVC uses Frame Sequential Method that provides a full 1920 x 1080 pixels to each eye without crosstalk and flicker. Images are so realistic and so natural-looking that it's like being pulled into the scene. With the frame sequential method, separate left-eye and right-eye images are alternated and require active shutter glasses to perceive the image correctly. The DLA-RS50 is supplied with 2 pairs of glasses and an infrared (IR) emitter unit. 3D signals are provided via Blu-ray (frame packing) or set-top box (side-by-side, top and bottom.)
7-axis Colour Management System
Features a new 7 axis Colour Management System which interpolates R,G,B,C,M,Y, and Orange individually. It allows adjustment of colour phase, chroma saturation, and brightness. By adding Orange to the Colour Management System, JVC has succeeded in expanding the colour range. This ensures reproduction of neutral colour which is normally difficult to reproduce.
It is easy to set the colour for adjustment by moving colour axes. Adjustment is made easier by displaying only colour for adjustment. Additionally, up to three customised colour settings can be stored for future use.
The DLA-RS50 is provides 12 predefined profiles that can be used in combination with the picture mode to provide faithful image quality with a wide variety of content. Profiles were developed after analysis of film prints from major Hollywood filmmakers, as well as other content such as live concerts, animation, sports and music videos.
Film Tone Mode Function
Film Tone is JVC's high performance function which allows brightness adjustment while maintaining film quality. Previously, adjusting the brightness resulted in a floating black level. JVC has solved this issue by developing the Film Tone function. This allows brightness adjustment while automatically balancing Gamma and Contrast levels. This maintains film quality without complex adjustment. There are 32 settings for brightness that allow very precise adjustment.
Easy Gamma adjustment function: Dark/Bright Level
Dark/Bright Level allows easy gamma adjustment without complex gamma operation. It allows users to enhance black or adjust brightness, and to adjust individual Red Green and Blue levels for perfect White Balance.
Screen adjustment mode
As the quality of projected images varies depending on the type of screen and its RGB reflective characteristics, JVC D-ILA projectors have screen adjustment modes that enable users to select the optimum mode to match screen characteristics for more natural and balanced colour reproduction. Users may select from 99 modes to match their specific screen characteristics. A current list of projection screens and their specific modes will be available on JVC's website.
Upgraded Clear Motion Drive
Clear Motion Drive's high-precision interpolation algorithm enhances the precision of picture-character detection to generate an accurate intermediate frame even for images with rapid movement. Whether broadcasting signal or movie content, viewers can enjoy smoother and clearer images with reduced motion blurring. JVC has upgraded this function with an improved interpolation algorithm along with black frame insertion.
Compatible HDMI v.1.4a
The DLA-RS50 features two HDMI ver.1.4a interfaces compatible with 3D,1080/24p input and Deep Colour. In addition, both interfaces are CEC (consumer electronic control) compatible which allows communication with external devices to enable the control of One-Touch Play, System Standby, etc. Wide HDMI cables can be also inserted simultaneously side by side, and are compatible with HDMI cables equipped with screws for a stable, fixed connection.
HDMI Input Level function
HDMI Input Level allows the user to check input HDMI level by displaying four different samples: Standard (16-235), Enhanced (0-255), Super white (16-255), 0 level on screen. It enables users to check easily when the signal is incorrectly detected.
Motorised Lense Cover
The projector features a motorised lense cover which opens and closes in synchronisation with power on/off to protect against dust, so even if the projector is installed up on the ceiling, you are assured of easy, trouble-free operation via the remote control
Remote Terminals
The DLA-RS50 is supplied with terminals for HDMI, Trigger, Remote Control and LAN. A built-in web server provides remote control functions via any personal computer (or hand held device) on the local area network. RS-232C allows for control by leading commercial external controllers. A trigger terminal is provided that signals an optional anamorphic Lense to stretch the screen to a 2.35:1 aspect ratio.
Motorised Lense Offsets for Easy Set-up
The motorised ±80% vertical and ±34% horizontal lense shift function enables far more flexibility in setting up the projector as it allows the projected picture to be easily moved horizontally or vertically. In addition, the 2x motorised zoom & focus lense — with throw distances of 3.0 meters to 6.1 meters for the 100-inch display — simplifies tedious zoom and/or focus adjustment.
Inverse telecine (reverse 2-3 pulldown)
To display TV broadcasts or commercially available DVDs created using the 2-3 pulldown process, the inverse telecine function re-converts the video source back to a 24fps signal and displays it at double speed or 48 fps, ensuring cinema-like viewing faithful to the original source.
Industry ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) certifications
licensed with the ISF C 3 (Certified Calibration Controls) mode, enabling trained dealers to professionally calibrate it to specific screen surfaces, lighting environments, and video sources. These precise settings are then stored into the projector to ensure reproduction of film or video content accurate to the source and excellent picture quality in all viewing situations.
