The JVC DLA-HX2 is a high-resolution home theater projector that builds on the DLA-HX1’s foundation with improved contrast, refined image processing, and expanded format support. It features three 1.1-megapixel WXGA-PLUS D-ILA panels with a native resolution of 1400 x 788, delivering smooth, flicker-free images without the rainbow effect or visible pixel grid common in single-chip systems. Its contrast ratio of 1500:1 enables excellent grayscale reproduction and true black levels, thanks to vertically aligned liquid crystals that default to black when no voltage is applied.

The HX2 supports a wide range of input formats including 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080/24/25/30PsF, and includes a DVI-D (HDCP) input for digital-to-digital signal integrity. It incorporates JVC’s AG (Analog Gradation) and D.I.S.T. (Digital Image Scaling Technology) to enhance detail and reduce noise, especially in low-brightness scenes. The projector uses a 250W NSH lamp (BHL-5006-S) rated for 2,000 hours and includes a GUI on-screen menu, RS-232C control, and screen trigger output for integrated AV setups.

Three D-ILA chips for smooth, flicker-free high-resolution images

Three reflective1.1-megapixel WXGA-PLUS 16:9 (1400 x 788) D-ILA chips enable the JVC DLA-HX2 to produce superior native resolution. JVC’s original 3-chip D-ILA (Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier) technology produces rich, natural colours without the annoying flicker or “rainbow effect” that plagues single panel projectors.

Cinema-like screen pictures without any visible pixels orline structure

Unlike transmissive liquid crystal technologies, there are no visible pixel or line structures with JVC’s D-ILA chips. This noticeable absence of visible image structure adds enormously to your appreciation of both the film quality resolution and the totally natural colours.

Superior colour reproduction

DLA-HX2's unique optical engine produces rich, natural colours with smooth gradations and low noise. With colour temperature set to the D65 standard, source media can be faithfully reproduced with the same gradations as the original. As a result, all colour gradations are natural and consistent, ensuring optimal cinema reproduction.

Analogue gradation technology

JVC’s exclusive AG (Analogue Gradation) technology produces highly accurate gradations with low noise, particularly in darker areas of less than 20% brightness.

High contrast ratio of 1500:1

High contrast of 1500:1 for excellent grey-scale reproduction enables reproduction of high-precision, high-quality pictures with the subject details clearly visible even in the darkest of scenes.

Reproduction of 100% true black

As the D-ILA’s liquid crystals are aligned vertically, the pixels are “normally black” when no voltage is applied. As a result, D-ILA technology reproduces blacks that are truly black. It also offers a uniform response, irrespective of brightness, displaying a wide range of intermediate tones.
